Here is all you need to know about this year's Toolbox Module. If you have been paying attention you'll find it is remarkably similar to last year but be warned, some of the activities and the order has changed.

IT Toolbox Module Guide 2008 (818 KB)

The key ideas you will find in the module guide are:

  1. The module is about exploring modern computing and trying to work out what is going on behind the scenes
  2. Each week there will be an activity for you to perform followed by some questions
  3. Lectures will discuss the questions raised by the activities
  4. There are no formal workshops although help will be available if you need it
  5. You will get furthest if you ask lots of questions

The normal rules about plagarism and mitigating circumstances in case of non-submission of work apply to this module although if you miss one weekly deadline you should simply try and get the work completed as quickly as possible.

The key thing is that by the middle of the module you should have completed 6 Activities (Part 1). If you have done this we will assume that you can get another 2 finished and you will pass the module. If you don't get 6 Activities (Part 1) complete then you will have to take an exam in January.
