In this session we will have a discussion of SMS and explore some of the issues involved.

SMS is deceptively simple and very powerful. As many of you have chosen to use this technology for your case studies instead of notes I want to provide pointers to things you should read and explore.

Some questions for us to think about

1. How does an SMS get from my phone to yours?
2. What is the technology involved?
3. Why is SMS so popular?
4. How do I know that a message has arrived?
5. How can I use the web to send SMS?
6. Can I send free SMS?
7. How would a SMS voting system work?
8. How could SMS be used to set up an alerting system?
9. How can SMS be extended to send more interesting content?
10. How can I create a business based on SMS?
