Installing and Running OSCommerce Activity

Here is today's activity...

Use Jarek’s notes to try and get OSCommerce running locally on a PC (or Mac/Linux machine) of your choice. Then fill in the following..

Participation marks will be awarded for completing this survey rather than for successfully running OSCommerce.

  1. How far did you get?
    Downloaded the software
    Installed Apache and got it running
    Installed PHP and tested it with a simple PHP page
    Installed MySQL and got it running
    Installed OSCommerce with the sample store
    Started to configure the store
  2. Describe any problems that you had during the installation process that you were successfully able to solve
  3. Describe any problems that you had during the process that you were NOT able to solve
  4. Describe how you tried to solve the problems
  5. What questions would you like Jarek to answer for you? Be as exact as possible, describing the errors that you were seeing and the exact point in the process they occurred.
  6. How useful was this exercise for you?
  7. Will you use any of the above technologies in your final project?
