Jonathan replies: Two good points. As you point out GPRS is charged by data transfer and not by time. If you were to use Skype over GPRS then it could be cheaper than your normal call charges. At the moment however, the data charges are very high (up to £1.22 per MByte).
There is a huge problem sharing frequencies because individual services do not occupy a single slot but leak over into many adjacent slots.
