Here is a list of recommended books with a direct link to Amazon.co.uk so that you can explore them further. I will be adding to it as the course progresses.

Constant TouchConstant Touch: A Global History of the Mobile Phone, Jon Agar, Icon Books Ltd, 2004, ISBN 1840465417. This is a good background history of the mobile phone written in an accessible style. Strong UK focus but explains well the different histories in the US and Japan.

M-Commerce: Technologies, Services and Business Models Mobile Commerce: Technologies, Services and Business Models, Norman Sadeh, Wiley, London, 2002, ISBN 0471 13585 2. Perhaps a little dated now. There were a collection of mobile business books that were published around 2002 before 3G existed. Waiting for some new ones.

Smart MobsSmart Mobs: The Next Social Revolution, Howard Rheingold, Perseus Books, 2003, ISBN 0738208612. Really excellent book describing the possible impact of the mobile phone.

Personal Portable PedestrianPersonal, Portable, Pedestrian: Mobile Phones in Japanese Life, Mizuko Ito (Editor), Daisuke Okabe (Editor), Misa Matsuda (Editor), The MIT Press, 2005, ISBN 0262090392. Sociological study of mobile in Japan. Interesting research.

Beyond MobileBeyond Mobile, Mats Lindgren, Jurgen Jedbratt, Erika Svensson (2002) Palgrave Macmillan; ISBN: 0333985087. Quite lightweight but perhaps worth a look.

Wireless HorizonWireless Horizon: Strategy and Competition in the Worldwide Mobile Marketplace, Dan Steinbock (2002) Amacom; ISBN: 0814407145.
