Firstly a big thanks to those of you who completed this week’s task. I know a few of you struggled with Zoomerang and I’m sorry for that but most of you managed fine.

Here are some comments on your evaluations:
Surprising things from the figures
  • 20% of the sites were hard to navigate. I expected this to be higher.
  • You felt that 83% of sites provided enough information. *Customers probably want more information than you imagine, particularly about competing products and help with choosing between products.
  • 53% of sites did not have a good internal search. This is one of the commonest failings and I was not surprised by this result.
  • Nor by the fact that 79% of sites did not help the customer decide.
  • In your opinion 75% of the sites were well optimised for the search engines. I expect by the end of the course you will change this view.
  • It did not surprise me that 60% of sites did not provide personalisation or recommendations.
  • 54% of sites did not feel well integrated into the business.
  • And in your opinion 65% of them are breaking the law regarding accessibility.
  • 31% of sites made be register before I could shop.
  • 50% of sites exhibited faults of one sort or another!
  • 42% of sites fail to provide adequate reassurance to common customer worries.

These, then, are things that you should watch out for when you are browsing the web and particularly when doing the coursework for this module.
