I am sorry that publishing this week’s activity has taken longer than I expected. I was stuck in research meetings all weekend and had no opportunity to create this activity. I will therefore extend the deadline for a week to Thursday 15th March at midnight.
Although you have not had an activity, you have had the document about the case study you need to prepare for the exam. This week’s activity asks you to report back on your thinking so far (or to encourage you to take a first look at what you might do).
As usual you should work through the questions below making notes as you go and then feedback your answers via the survey.
1. Which of the following types of client have you chosen? (you will be able to change your mind later)
a. An educational institution
b. A borough council
c. A UK high street retailer
d. The makers of a UK TV programme
e. A UK charity
2. Which specific client have you chosen? (just select one if you have not made up your mind yet)
3. Which type of application have you chosen to think about?
i. A WAP 2.0 extension to an existing online site
ii. An alerting system that uses SMS or MMS
iii. A location based service delivered over a mobile phone
iv. Secure remote mobile access to an existing information system
v. An RFID enabled information system
4. Describe the application you propose in a bit more detail? What would it do?
5. Why do you think this application would suit this client?
6. Now find three interesting web sites that relate to the application area of mobile business you have chosen that you think will help you in preparing your case study.
For each, make a note of the full URL and say why you think it will be useful.
7. What are the key technologies that are being used in your application?
8. What questions are revealed by your research that you would like me to help you understand?
Feed back your answers using this survey link.
What do you think?
