Ecommerce Mock Exam Paper

Here is an example from last year of the sorts of questions I will be setting in your exam. This is a good model of both the types of questions and the sorts of answers I will be looking for.

Note that this year there will only be 3 main questions.

You have been asked to prepare a case study looking at the improvement of an existing online business or proposals to move an existing offline business online.

Answer ALL the following questions (each worth 25 marks).

1. Key ideas
a. Outline in less than 200 words the key technology and business ideas contained in your proposal. (5 marks)

b. What is the single most important change or improvement that you would make if money were not restricted? (5 marks)

c. List 5 other changes you would make with a justification of each and an indication of costs and benefits. (15 marks)

2. Technology
a. Describe the software systems and approaches that you would use to implement your proposals. Include an indication of the advantages over other possible approaches (15 marks)

b. Describe briefly (using bullet points) in what ways accessibility and usability issues will affect your project (10 marks)

3. Business
a. How will the success of your project be measured? Outline the key results you are expecting (5 marks)

b. Describe (using bullet points) the key costs involved in delivering your proposals during the development phase and once the system is live (10 marks)

c. Describe briefly (using bullet points) how your proposals respond to other similar businesses in the market (10 marks)

4. Budget
a. Outline clearly (using bullet points) how you would alter your plans and recommendations if the company’s development budget was set at £50,000. (25 marks)

I won't be going through this specific paper in detail but you can ask as many questions as you like here on this thread.

Thank you very much. This would be very helpful in order to prepare for the exam. I would personally like if you could tell what sort of answers do you expect for these kinds of questions?

The key things I would be looking for include:
1. clear answers (bulleted lists are good)
2. answers that clearly relate to the case study
3. imaginative answers
4. explained answers
5. full answers (if the question asks for 3 things, give 3 things)

If there are 10 marks for something then look to write 5-10 points.

Do the key technology and business ideas have to be the ones of the website or the improvements. Am confused. thanks.

You need to consider the current state of both technology and business and then make recommendations for improvements.

I'm afraid I cannot provide answers or you will all produce the same answers in the exam.

How many purposed ideas should we come up with for the case study

I think you should have 5-8 substantial proposals to make to the company. Don't just have the ideas, you need the justifications and explanations too and be able to put them in order of priority.
