Exploring Analytics (Ecommerce Activity 6)

For this week's activity I want you to explore Google Analytics http://www.google.com/analytics using data from Market Quarter. I will post the username and password on StudySpace so that only students registered for this module can access the account.

I have also restricted the account to view reports only (just to keep things simple). If you want to explore further aspects of GA then you will need to do this for your own site.

Here are the questions that I would like you to answer. For each answer you should describe a range of 3-4 answers where appropriate. If you are uncertain about any terms then you will need to read the documentation or study the tutorials that are presented alongside Google Analytics or do a Google search.

1. Where do most visitors to Market Quarter start their journey?
2. Where do they land on the site (3-4 top places)?
3. For what keywords does the site perform well in natural search?
4. For what keywords does the site perform well in PPC?
5. Discuss why you think these lists are different
6. List the 5 most important business/ecommerce questions that can be answered by looking at Google Analytics data?
7. What changes would you make to the site based directly on the data you can see?
8. Are there any types of questions you think GA should be able to answer that it appears not to?
9. Were you surprised at any of the data that you could see inside GA?
10. What are the privacy issues surrounding the use of GA?
