As I start my new teaching year I thought it would be worth presenting some of the interesting Internet statistics that shape the world in which our students will learn and work.

Follow each of these links and ask yourself what effect the technologies or systems involved have on you as a professional. How will you be involved in designing, building or maintaining such systems? What are the trends hidden in such statistics? How do they affect how people view technology, privacy and even energy consumption?
